Responsibilities
**Position Summary**
Under general direction and with considerable latitude for independent judgment and within the framework of hospital policy, the Volunteer Program Manager is responsible for specific, designated volunteer programs within the Friends of Strong and has direct administrative responsibility for the volunteer program at Strong Memorial Hospital and its offsite locations.
**Responsibilities**
+ Responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining a 600+ person healthcare volunteer program that benefits patients, staff, and volunteers at Strong Memorial Hospital. Directly responsible for all logistics of the program, including recruitment, interview scheduling and coordination. Oversees staff scheduling for day to day operations and volunteer peaks. Oversees and conducts onboarding orientations and interviews prospective volunteers and makes decisions regarding the best placement for the candidate within the institution. Manages program secretaries to ensure that all volunteers are oriented and meet the standards for compliance as they relate to HIPAA training, Joint Commission and NYSDOH and NYSDOL requirements, as well as oversight of internal compliance requirements including, but not limited to NYS exclusion screening for volunteers, programs for minors compliance management, and internal Employee Health compliance ensuring timely follow up on volunteer health appointments and flu documentation for all Friends of Strong volunteers. Develops and recommends policies and procedures based on statistical and historical volunteer program data.
+ Builds and maintains relationships within the hospital and the community through education and collaboration. Ensures continuous growth of the volunteer program by utilizing highly developed sales and marketing skills to create and develop new patient and family centered care volunteer positions throughout the organization. Engages regularly with volunteer supervisors and offers support and guidance.
+ Manages all of the intricate details, planning and logistics directly related to major program peaks in the spring, summer and fall. This includes internal and external communications regarding program start and stop dates, requirements by group, timely follow up and processing in a very short turnaround time. Precise communication with volunteer supervisors and Employee Health are at an escalated level during these peaks, requiring fast and accurate turn around times. Over 70% of FOS volunteers are processed during these timeframes.
+ Evaluates opportunities and drives innovation within the volunteer tracking software, VSys, as well as additional software programs./tools including MyPath, Sign up Genius, and Survey Monkey. Ensures that all tracking and reporting is up to date and completed in a timely manner. Consistently works with VSys support, ISD, and the Friends of Strong staff to enhance the utilization of the software and increase department productivity.
+ Hires, supervises, trains evaluates volunteer secretarial staff performance. Identifies and delegates work processes and procedures as necessary. Shared supervision of front desk secretary with department Assistant Director.
Other duties as assigned
**Requirements**
+ Graduation from college or an equivalent combination of experience and training required.
+ 3 years of related work experience including at least 1 year in an administrative capacity in an academic office or project management, or the equivalent experience in business required.
+ Microsoft Suite programs, supervisory experience, interviewing experience required. Volunteer program experience preferred.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $20.00 - $38.46
_The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job’s compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._
