Efficiently and accurately completes senior level Accounts Receivable tasks of higher complexity which requires an increased level of oversight to ensure both compliance and successful collection of payment.
Serves as a role model/mentor to the staff within their areas of responsibility and throughout the department particularly in areas of attendance, customer service departmental policies, and job procedures in the area of responsibility.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Investigates and resolves problems or difficult cases and communicate them to the supervisor within the designated time frame.
Works all inpatient accounts via online work list, aged trial balance reports, or other reports by making calls or checking the website for claim receipts. Processes appeals as needed and reconciles account balances according to procedure.
Researches and secures payment for accounts over $10k by follow-up or appeal process.
Works aged accounts over 220 days old to secure payment and ensure claims are worked according to payer guidelines.
Bills, conducts follow-up and appeals to high dollar and older aged claims to ensure payments are received.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education : High School diploma or GED required. Associate's degree preferred.
Experience : 3-5 years related work experience required.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
Proficient keyboarding skills for data entry and ability to navigate between more than one computer system.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong working knowledge of managed care rules and regulations, medical terminology, ICD, and CPT codes, third-party payer billing requirements, and coordination of benefits and payer requirements.
Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access, and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
2 or more years of revenue cycle experience within the healthcare industry.
Ability to analyze root causes and make decisions/recommendations to supervisor while prioritizing tasks to ensure optimal outcomes.
