The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Manager with a specialized focus on trusts and estates. This role requires a hands-on professional with a strong technical background, leadership capabilities, and the ability to manage complex client relationships. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in trust and estate tax compliance, planning, and consulting, and will play a key role in supporting our high-net-worth clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Trust and Estate Tax Compliance: Prepare and review complex trust, estate, and gift tax returns (Forms 1041, 706, and 709), ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations.
Tax Planning and Advisory: Collaborate with clients to develop and implement strategic tax planning solutions for trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
Client Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing proactive guidance on tax strategies, compliance matters, and legislative changes.
Research and Analysis: Stay current on federal, state, and local tax laws, performing in-depth research on complex tax issues and presenting findings in clear, actionable ways.
Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop junior team members, providing guidance and support to enhance their technical and professional skills.
Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in tax preparation and advisory services.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Masters in Taxation or related discipline preferred).
Certification: CPA license is required.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax, with a focus on trusts and estates.
Experience in public accounting, wealth management, or a specialized tax advisory firm is highly preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with tax software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax, or similar) and accounting tools.
Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations related to trusts, estates, and high-net-worth individuals.
Soft Skills:
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
