About the Job
The Opportunity:
IntePros Federal is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Hyperflex) in support of our federal government customer, the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), assisting with the digital transformation within classified and unclassified IT systems and networks. You will work with our geographically dispersed team of Engineers, Administrators, Analysts, and Managers to provide effective solutions to complex enterprise IT challenges. You will work directly with the CIO, DCIO, Directors, Enterprise Architect, and our team SMEs to methodically modernize IT infrastructure and business systems while existing operations continue uninterrupted.
Clearance: DOEQ or TS/SCI clearance required.

Responsibilities:
- Highly skilled and experienced Datacenter Engineer with expertise in Hyperconverged solutions, rack mount servers, DC switching, and storage.
- Design, implement, configure and maintain hardware and COTS related to customer infrastructure to ensure optimal performance, security, and functionality within our organization.
- Manage and maintain Cisco Hyperflex servers and VMWare VCenter deployments on multiple
- Develop and implement Cisco Hyperflex and VMWare deployment strategies for software updates, applications, and operating systems across the enterprise.
- Monitor hyperflex infrastructure using UCS manager and HCI software to proactively identify and resolve issues, optimize performance, and ensure high availability.
- Collaborate with other IT teams to tune and improve existing systems, processes, and tools for seamless operation and automation.
- Provide technical expertise and support to troubleshoot and resolve datacenter infrastructure-related incidents, problems, and service requests.
- Provide technical expertise and support to troubleshoot and resolve VMWare-related incidents, problems, and service requests.
- Develop and maintain documentation, standards, and best practices for cisco hyperflex configuration, administration, and support.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in datacenter and hyperconverged technologies to continuously improve infrastructure and processes.
- Provide customer roadmap related to Cisco Hyperflex and Hyperconverged
- Mentor and train junior staff members on Cisco Hyperflex administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of multiple servers.
- Plan, implement, and maintain systems configuration in accordance with configuration management procedures.
- Conduct installations of operating system and supporting software.
- Support end user applications and assist application support teams in implementation and troubleshooting activities.
- Perform routine software and hardware maintenance, firmware upgrades, patches, and fixes.
- Perform daily backup operations.
- Prepare technical specifications documentation.
- Contribute to cybersecurity with vulnerability management and remediation, STIG (Security Technical Implementation Guide) implementation, and incident response.
- Recommend technical standards and policies.
- Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot, maintain, and implement hardware and software.
- Analyze and improve system performance and reliability.
- Conduct systems inventory and update asset management documentation.
- Document and update systems architecture drawings and server rack elevations using Microsoft Visio.
- Provide technical assistance, training, and system documentation for users to promote efficient operation of applications.
- Develop disaster recovery procedures including implementation of warm site and testing of tier one applications failover.
- Collaborate with the other server, SAN, and application teams, identify operational characteristics, determining the presence of a problem, identifying viable solutions, selecting the most appropriate solution, and implementing that solution in a timely manner in accordance with Change Control Process.
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures; contribute to and maintain system standards, policies, and procedures.
- Maintain system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, performance tuning, troubleshooting, system hardware, installation, firmware patching, and VMware software patching.
- Document and transfer knowledge to fellow staff through training.
- Present insights, status, and progress to management via clear written and verbal communication.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years relevant experience in IT operations environment
- 7+ years of experience demonstrated professional expertise in managing and operating hyperconverged solutions.
- 7+ years of VMware ESXi/vSphere/vCenter experience.
- An in-depth knowledge of datacenter architectures deployments and management
- Thorough understanding of the desktop and server image build process.
- Experience with Azure, Windows and Linux operating systems and concepts.
- Working knowledge of system hardening (Security Technical Implementation Guide SRGs regulatory compliance)
- Advanced understanding of IP (Internet Protocol) networking.
- Thorough knowledge of Switches, Routers and Firewalls.
- Experience with troubleshooting proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution.
- Effective communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to interact with team members at various levels of management and internal clients with assorted levels of computer experience.
- Experience with Security Compliance and Nessus Security Center scan reports.
- Experience with Monthly patching cycles. SCCM/LAN Desk experience preferred.
- Experience with performance monitoring tools.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Certifications:
- Preferred:
- VMware Certified Professional - 0 or higher, Datacenter Virtualization, Desktop
- Cisco Hyperflex for Systems Engineers (CHXSE)
- Nutanix Certified Professional
- ITIL v3 or 4
