Senior Staff Reliability Engineer - Rivian and VW Group Technology

Role Summary:

Reliability is at the core of Electric Adventure Vehicles. We are looking for engineers who have experience in bringing products from the early concept stages to production by working closely with design, validation and manufacturing teams on solving technical problems along the way to make the most robust products.

Responsibilities:

• Lead cross-functional teams in failure investigations and reliability improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and other team members on reliability engineering best practices.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for failures in design, manufacturing, or field performance.
• Develop and optimize reliability models and testing, including FMEA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Reliability Block Diagrams (RBD), and Reliability Test Flows.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and quality teams to incorporate reliability standards and improvements into product development. Drive predictive maintenance and risk mitigation strategies to minimize downtime and operational risks.
• Influence supplier selection for higher reliability and provide clear guidance on reliability requirements and demonstration to suppliers.

Qualifications:

• BS+ in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Science or Physical Science
• 10+ years of experience in reliability engineering, including hands on experience with analysis, testing and failure investigations
• Expertise in reliability methodologies such as FMEA, FTA, Reliability Block Diagrams, and statistical analysis tools. Expert Level Knowledge in Developing accelerated-life-test development methods for electronics
• Strong project management skills, with experience leading cross-functional teams and driving reliability-focused initiatives.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to apply root cause analysis and implement effective corrective actions.

Pay Disclosure:

Salary Range for Southern California Based Candidates: $218,200.00 - $272,800.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

 

Benefits Summary: Rivian and Volkswagen Technology provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
