Senior Staff Accountant - King & Bishop

About the Job
Our client, a leader in providing support and services to individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities, is hiring a Senior Staff Accountant to join their team on a 6-9 month contract basis. This role will record appropriate general ledger entries for cash receipts and electronic activity related to receipts and disbursements.Responsibilities:
- Comply with all principles of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and principles of Human Rights, D.P.P.C. and the Department of Developmental Services, and the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission regulations
- Reconcile several bank statements for accounts on a weekly basis
- Support the management of the agency Rep Payee Accounts including monitoring balances, gathering receipts, preparing transfers, and performing monthly reconciliation process of the accounts in conjunction with program managers
- Responsible for timely sharing of bank and Social Security information with manager
- Responsible for the reconciliation of the monthly house and program ledgers inclusive of receipt capture and tracing
- Maintain appropriate receipt documentation with the ledger reconciliations. Routinely monitor bank balances and recommend funding as needed
- Ensure appropriateness of expenses incurred by programs
- Record, reconcile, and distribute reports on client funds activity on weekly basis. Follow up on any outstanding funds for collection
- Process Accounts Payable and Receivable for two subsidiary organizations
- Assist with annual audits, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other ancillary accounting functions as needed
- Assist with related special projects as required
- Associate Degree and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience primarily in accounting/accounts payables
- Excellent analytical skills, including spreadsheet/database management, accounting software, and MS Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; Great Plains experience a plus
- Self-directed with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Works well independently and as part of a team
