What You’ll Be Doing:
Lilly is seeking an experienced Principal Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in building transformative generat AI products across the entire Lilly value chain: drug discovery, research, manufacturing, go-to-market, and general knowledge work. As part of the SPE organization, you will provide technical leadership and contribution to cutting-edge AI products.
How You’ll Succeed:
Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, promoting best practices and fostering a collaborative and delivery-oriented environment.
Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of Gen AI products, with a focus on scalability and performance.
Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including scientists, researchers, and business stakeholders
Your Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field
8+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, JS, Go and experience with Kubernetes with experience in machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch) and natural language processing libraries.
5+ years of machine learning principles and techniques, including deep learning, recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and transformer models.
5+ years of software engineering leadership experience, with a proven track record of delivering successful projects.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
Up-to-date with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements in the life sciences and AI domains.
Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
Proficiency in Python with understanding of async, streaming and other concepts.
Experience in the life sciences or regulated industries is highly preferred.
Familiarity with AI, Machine Learning, and Large Language Models is a plus.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
Additional Information:
This role is located in Indianapolis, IN with a hybrid work model
Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $121,500 to $195,800 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).
