Senior Software Engineer at Suffolk Tech
San Francisco, CA 94199
About the Job
Our Mission
At Pulley, we are on a mission to make construction faster and more affordable. The most pressing challenges of the next decade — housing affordability, climate change, economic stability, and resilient infrastructure — require us to radically and rapidly rebuild the world around us. For new projects, permitting is a key bottleneck and an incredibly broken process — it’s different across thousands of cities, enforces over a million rules, and is still largely untouched by software.
We’re helping construction teams break ground on new projects as quickly as possible through faster permitting. If we can compress permitting times from months to hours, we can not only improve lives for millions of folks in construction, but we can also meaningfully increase the production of new housing, office spaces, businesses small and large, transit and energy infrastructure, and virtually all other types of construction.
About Us
We are a passionate team of engineers building software for the built environment around us. Founded by Charlie Jacobson and Andreas Rotenberg in 2021, our team combines deep experience in real estate and construction with a track record of shipping software loved by millions of customers.
We’re backed by CRV, Susa Ventures, BoxGroup, Fifth Wall, Operator, South Park Commons, Suffolk Construction and leaders from Plaid, Segment, Procore, ServiceTitan, Built, BuildZoom, and eero.
What We’re Building
We’re building the world’s first software platform for construction permitting — for any project, in any city. Our north star is speed; everything we do is in the service of helping our customers get their permits as fast as possible.
We serve some of the top developers, builders, retailers and architects in the industry to permit new apartment buildings, office space, homes, stores and much more!
As an early engineer at Pulley, you will get to:
- Help construction teams break ground faster
- Talk to users, define requirements, and own features end-to-end
- Shape the team culture, product direction and help build the team
- Work with a modern tech stack (React, Tailwind, TypeScript, Vercel, and Google Cloud) and help scale our platform to managing nationwide construction portfolios for some of the industry's biggest players.
- Leverage and develop cutting-edge AI tools to turn unstructured permitting documents and city regulations into delightful experiences.
We are looking for someone who:
- Thrives in ambiguity and defines the right problems to solve
- Can translate complex customer needs into extensible, scalable product solutions
- Enjoys collaborating with designers to meticulously craft great experiences
- Architects durable systems while making reasonable tradeoffs
- Is willing to learn and apply the latest technologies to automate processes
- Is based in the San Francisco Bay Area, willing to work in person 4 days a week.
- Has 5+ years of experience working as a full-time software engineer
