We are seeking a Senior SAP BASIS Administrator to join our team supporting our Internal Revenue Service (IRS) client.
As SAP BASIS Administrator, the selected candidate will engage with business stakeholders, including IT, system integration, and cyber security, to design and develop the system landscape strategy for SAP systems.
Position is remote in U.S. and will require rotating on call support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for software installations and configurations, performing software upgrades, performance tuning, capacity management and planning, and trouble-shooting production problems for each environment.
- Recommend server software upgrades, perform software patching, and assist development teams in their efforts.
- Responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other technical employees within technical discipline.
- Responsible for leading large or complex initiatives that involve technically challenging requirements at this level, involving delegation of work and review of work products of the lower-level technical professionals.
- Perform new user setup duties.
- Respond to Service Desk requests and problems.
- Perform necessary capacity planning and tracks usage metrics.
- Design, develop, and test solutions for business customer needs.
- Assist users with various inquiries related to coding issues.
- Maintain best-practices, standards, and procedures documentation.
- Aid in troubleshooting issues with users.
- Research and resolve production support issues, as needed.
- Plan and apply technology upgrades.
- Perform necessary capacity planning to ensure peak readiness.
- Make modifications to infrastructure deployment architecture where appropriate.
- Perform vulnerability remediation including patching and upgrades.
- Maintain overall disaster recovery plans and participate in recovery drills.
- Cross-train in other related technologies.
- Support the BASIS team in landscape strategy, design, and implementation for SAP S/4 HANA programs or projects.
- Work with other IS teams to establish the infrastructure standards and requirements for 24x7 operation of SAP systems and landscapes.
- Collaborate with functional and technical teams to identify, install, configure, support, and document SAP and related solutions to meet business objectives.
- Work with technical and development teams to address user requirements, coordinate system-wide updates, perform upgrades and apply patches.
- Responsible for SAP solution lifecycle management and for ensuring the performance and reliability of SAP and other enterprise systems.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement security measures to protect data, applications, software, and hardware.
- Maintain existing applications and work with functional and technical teams to resolve issues reported by users.
- Determine and prepare SOP documentation to meet compliance and operational needs.
- Implement and maintain the multiple SAP instances that comprise the SAP environment (development, test, training and production).
- Perform regular system health checks and capacity planning.
- Collaborate with functional and technical teams to coordinate application of upgrades, system bugs, Hot security notes or cyber security findings.
- Ensure the integrity of the SAP system and its security protocols.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain production systems for High Availability/ Disaster recovery (DR).
- Identify risks, threats, and vulnerabilities that may impact the overall security of SAP systems.
- Plan and deliver bug fixes, effort estimation, and solution feasibility.
- Follow client's change management process.
- Create deliverable materials for a range of recipients including technical teams, business teams, project leads and executives.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study and 7+ years of relevant professional experience required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Per contract, Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university required.
- At least five (5) years of experience as a SAP BASIS Administrator.
- Experienced in S/4 HANA roadmap and associated mappings.
- Strong knowledge of SAP system administration and system security protocols.
- Experience with cloud AWS platforms and RHEL.
- Ability to support rotating off hour on-call/ system maintenance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of IRS business systems and data.
- S/4HANA certification in relevant modules.
- Knowledge and experience with government implementations of SAP HANA.
- Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology, including Scrum or Kanban processes.
Additional requirements as per Contract/Client:
- Candidates must meet requirements to obtain and maintain an IRS Minimum Background Investigation (MBI) clearance (active IRS Moderate Risk MBI is a plus)
- Candidates must be a US Citizen or a Legal Permanent Resident (Green Card status) for 3 years, and be Federal Tax compliant

Pay Transparency
Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards. Compensation ranges may differ based on contract value but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
