As a member of the Architecture Discipline, the Architect III plays a key leadership role by independently directing and supervising project teams to deliver design, programming, and technical solutions tailored to project-specific requirements. This position involves managing medium to large-scale projects with complex challenges and overseeing a team of architects, technicians, and interns.
The Architect III is responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing assignments while ensuring seamless coordination with other disciplines. They lead the production of drawings and construction documents that align with the design vision, meet client expectations, and uphold the firm’s commitment to design excellence, financial performance, and quality service.
Additionally, the Architect III contributes to advancing the firm’s reputation in the marketplace by developing innovative projects and exploring new concepts, methods, and opportunities. Job Details
Design Intent and Construction Documents
- Ensure the design intent is preserved throughout the preparation and supervision of construction documents.
- Lead and oversee teams of varying sizes (small, medium, and large) consisting of professional and technical support staff on project assignments.
- Manage and deliver the production of construction documents for projects of all scales.
Schematic Design and Design Development
- Partner with the Project Manager and Project Designer to create buildings that align with the client’s needs, aesthetic vision, and functional requirements.
- Develop designs that comply with applicable codes and regulations.
- Participate in client design presentations and internal design review sessions.
- Lead project coordination meetings for medium and large-scale projects.
- Guide the building design development by evaluating it against program requirements, budget constraints, codes, and other emerging considerations during the Design Development phase.
Construction Documents
- Direct project teams in translating design principles into detailed construction documentation.
- Oversee coordination with engineering disciplines, including civil, landscape, and interior design, to maintain alignment with the established design concepts.
- Develop project specifications and address technical requirements.
Construction Administration
- Manage the review of submittals, shop drawings, and responses during the construction phase.
- Conduct construction site visits and prepare detailed reports.
- Supervise the technical team in preparing construction-phase design directives.
Mentorship and Leadership
- Provide mentorship to Architects, Technicians, and Interns to support professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture
- Licensed Architect in at least one state, with qualifications that support registration in additional states.
- Proven experience as an architect, contributing to project components with demonstrated technical and organizational expertise.
- Exceptional skills in graphic design, building design, and conceptualization.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and related design software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong ability in hand drawing and sketching.
