Senior Piping Design Engineer/Estimator
Location: Orlando, FL
Primarily responsible for receiving and evaluating customer RFQs for process piping projects, determining correct and compatible industrial fluid handling system components, including requisite materials & labor, and generating accurate project cost estimates as part of the overall quote-bidding process. Typical component equipment will include seals, pumps, valves, control instrumentation, and process piping for modular auxiliary skids, to be sourced both internally from materials inventory and/or externally from approved vendors.
Fundamental understanding of component materials compatibility, temperatures, pressures, and operational dynamics, including knowledge of power piping codes & standards, is essential.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Responsible for developing accurate & competitive cost estimates for customer RFQs, including generation of requisite BOMs and/or proposals.
• Perform preliminary identification/selection/validation of components for projects per material specifications & requirements.
• Determine sources & costs for all project system components.
• Communicate with external vendors for non-inventoried materials & supplies.
• Participate in the bidding process, estimate scope of work, and project schedules related to the job.
• Collaborate with customers, vendors, and technical personnel in defining the scope of work and specifications.
• Strictly adhere to all applicable piping industry codes & standards (especially ASME B31.1 & B31.3) during process.
• Assist as needed with technical compliance during final design, procurement, and construction approval.
• Training of customer personnel as needed during and post installation.
• Documentation/reporting of all project activity via ERP system (EPICOR knowledge preferred).
• Approximately 5 - 20% domestic travel involved (mostly southeastern US)
• Other applications engineering duties may be assigned in support of the Engineering and Sales departments.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• BS in an engineering discipline (mechanical, manufacturing, electrical, etc.) required.
• Minimum 5 yrs. experience in industrial process piping design and cost estimation necessary.
• Knowledge of fabrication, piping, structural, and modularized systems is required.
• Proficiency in reading specifications, drawings, P&IDs and AMLs needed
• Thorough knowledge of process piping industry standards ASME B31.1 & B31.3
• Proficiency in use of MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to focus on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Knowledge of oil & gas measurement principles and API standards is a plus.
• Electrical and instrumentation knowledge is a plus.

Shift:
• First (Mon - Fri 8:00AM - 5:00PM)
