Job Summary:
Independently provides service to patients before, during or post-appointment. Maintains proficiency in all aspects of PSS role. Facilitates efficient workflow, supports appropriate use of technology, and fosters effective communication. Navigates complex patients to include scheduling with multiple services or coordination with outside facilities and/or providers. May provide guidance to entry level staff members.

Department Summary
The Vanderbilt Executive Wellness and Concierge Medicine practice is a primary care/internal medicine practice embedded within VUMC. The practice currently has 6 board certified internal medicine physicians along with multiple subspecialists. The practice is associated with an annual membership fee for the clients and a small physician/patient ratio. Membership in this practice provides the following:
Enhanced access: We offer extended time with the doctor during appointments and convenient access to the doctor outside of appointments. We also offer same- or next-day visits with minimal wait time during the week.
Personalized care: We work closely with patients to guide their medical care in tandem with their lifestyle and wellness habits.
Coordinated care: We are happy to coordinate medical care, facilitate scheduling with medical and surgical specialists, and interface with other doctors on the patient's behalf.
Access to specialists: As part of Vanderbilt University Medical Center, we can quickly refer the patients to top subspecialty experts for further services, as needed.
The practice works closely with an interprofessional group of nurses, patient service specialists, physical therapists, advanced nurse practitioners, and many other health professionals to provide exceptional care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Proficiently performs all Patient Service Specialist job responsibilities.
+ Facilitates pre-authorization, precertification or predetermination of procedure and resolves related issues.
+ Manages templates including utilization, wait list and quality audits.
+ Monitors patient schedule and ensure optimization of resources and workflow.
+ Maintains quality and engages in quality improvement efforts in operations impacting patients and staff.
+ Participates in interview process for new PSSs.
+ Assists with onboarding and training of new hires and manages and reviews onboarding checklist.

+ APPOINTMENT & PROCEDURAL SCHEDULING (Intermediate): The ability to coordinate and schedule diagnostic testing and procedures within various computer systems in the hospital.
