The Systems and Mechanical Engineering team is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer of our New Castle office at the TA Instruments business unit. Working in the R&D organization at TA Instruments – Waters LLC. You will have a unique opportunity to impact a broad range of industries including Electric Cars, 3D Printing, Energy Storage and Batteries, Pharmaceutical, Polymers, etc. developing life changing and innovative products.
You will contribute to design and develop new measurement technologies for material characterization working with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers. In this role you will support the new product development priority projects and interface across business functions to meet market and customer needs on a variety of projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop concepts to meet the customer needs
- Prototype designs and develop test plans, communicate results
- 3D modelling, propose and conduct simulations where relevant
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback where appropriate
- Work with project lead on technical ideation
- Oversee accurate documentation and detailing that represent the products, systems, subsystems or components under development
- Work closely with the Engineers and cross-functional team to develop product designs
- Communicate concerns/suggestions/improvements relating to engineering concerns and product life cycle management
- Oversee full documentation of mechanical design including BOM, drawings, and procedures
Qualifications
Education:
- Engineering Associates/Bachelor’s Degree prefered, 2-3 years in a development environment
Experience:
- Prototype design, test and analysis
- Root cause analysis
- Experience with Unigraphics / Solid Works / or Equivalent Tool
- PDM and change process experience
- GD&T knowledge and experience
Skills:
- Adept at originating and interpreting engineering designs and concepts
- Strong interpersonal, communications and analytical skills
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
- Understanding of physics and/or mechanical engineering disciplines (thermal, structural, fluid principles), furnace design, sensor design and operation, basic controls principles
- Materials Science knowledge
- Ability to work independently and in teams to design experiments & test plans, review designs and brainstorm ideas
- Use of sensors and measurement principles
- Data analysis and presentation
- Familiar with simulations of mechanical and thermal problems, preferably Ansys/Matlab
- Design for Manufacture and assembly
- Hands on experience of fabrication/assembly techniques
