About the Job
Lead the charge in GEICO's technological evolution! We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Manager to build and lead a team of talented engineers responsible for our multi-cloud, private cloud resources to provide reliable and efficient storage services. You will be instrumental in driving the adoption and expansion of our object storage, ensuring its stability, security, and performance across our hybrid cloud environment for DataLakes/AI/ML Workloads.

Annual Salary
$120,000.00 - $300,500.00
The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate's work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.

Responsibilities:
- Recruit, build, and mentor a high-performing team of object storage service engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment focused on continuous improvement.
- Define and execute the team's vision and roadmap, aligning with GEICO's strategic goals for cloud adoption, application modernization, and microservices architecture.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and operation of the Object Storage Services across multiple cloud environments and clusters, ensuring scalability, resilience, and efficient resource utilization.
- Manage and prioritize the team's backlog, ensuring timely delivery of key features and functionalities while maintaining alignment with business needs.
- Collaborate closely with security, operations, and development teams to integrate the Object Storage Services into existing workflows and promote cross-functional collaboration.
- Develop and implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes to ensure the health and stability of the Object Storage Services.
- Advocate for the Object Storage Services within the organization, showcasing its value and driving adoption across various teams and projects.
- Foster strong partnerships with networking, SD-WAN, data center engineering, and SRE teams to ensure the successful operation of the Object Storage Services within GEICO's hybrid environment.
- Collaborate with SREs to establish clear SLOs and error budgets for the Object Storage Services, driving continuous improvement in reliability and performance.
Qualifications:
- Technical leadership: Proven experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration.
- Object Storage Services knowledge: Strong understanding of Object Storage Services concepts, technologies, and best practices, particularly with Istio and related tools.
- Kubernetes and containers: Extensive experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration platforms, understanding their role in microservices architecture.
- Hybrid cloud experience: Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and the challenges associated with managing and operating a Object Storage Services across multiple platforms.
- Strategic thinking: Ability to develop and articulate a clear vision for the Object Storage Services team, aligning with GEICO's overall technology strategy and business goals.
- Communication and collaboration: Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and promote the value of the Object Storage Services within the organization.
Experience:
- 10+ years of professional experience in software engineering, DevOps, or related fields.
- 5+ years of experience in technical leadership or management roles.
- 3+ years of experience with Object Storage Services technologies like CEPH, MinIO and Containers/Kubernetes/VMs.
- Proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience managing complex technical projects and delivering successful outcomes.
