The Senior Litigation Trial Paralegal will assist the Firm's various departments to coordinate all efforts, needs and support to provide solutions for on-site trials, arbitrations and mediations. The Senior Litigation Trial Paralegal will work closely with various Firm departments to define, communicate, and execute requirements supporting trials, hearings, arbitrations, mediations, and the discovery process. The Senior Litigation Trial Paralegal should be solutions-oriented, analytical, able to build effective working relationships quickly, and possess excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:- Support attorneys in the New York, Washington, and California offices with all aspects of case management and trial/hearing preparation, including document organization, witness preparation, and exhibit management.
- Coordinate with expert witnesses, clients, and vendors, as well as opposing counsel, during case preparation and throughout trial/hearing.
- Manage all aspects of trial/hearing planning including collaborating with internal Firm Departments (Information Technology, Litigation Technology, Office Operations, etc.) and external vendors to set up operations on-site and/or off-site as needed.
- Develop and execute plans for off-site setups including surveying courtroom/arbitration site layouts in advance of trial/hearing and overseeing the breakdown of same at conclusion.
- Act as a key support member during trial/hearings, managing exhibits, logistics, and technology in the courtroom.
- Assist with travel arrangements including securing hotel accommodations, offsite conference/meeting spaces, and workspaces at courthouse/arbitration site.
- Perform legal research, assist in drafting case summaries, and maintain case-related databases.
- Provide post-trial assistance, including preparing post-trial briefing, settlement documentation and organizing final case materials.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and ensure compliance with legal procedures and court rules.
- Assist in budget development and tracking for trials.
- Gather and maintain best practices for trial protocol.
- Provide paralegal support on an as-needed basis to individual case teams with a wide-range of paralegal tasks - drafting and filing pleadings, discovery requests, responses, and other legal documents; work with the Firm’s Managing Attorney Office to execute the filing and service of same; organize and manage large volumes of documents, conduct substantive document reviews, and assist with e-discovery processes in collaboration with the Firm’s Discovery Group lawyers.
- Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
- 6+ years of experience as a litigation paralegal with significant trial/hearing preparation and courtroom/arbitration experience.
- Proficiency in legal software and e-discovery tools (e.g., Westlaw, Lexis, Relativity, Westlaw Case Notebook, CaseMap, TrialDirector).
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills as well as ability to produce independently with excellent results and accuracy in work product.
- Superior detail orientation, written and verbal communication, organization, problem-solving and time management skills.
- Ability to handle pressure, long hours, prioritize effectively and manage multiple deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities and interruptions.
- Flexibility to work extensive overtime and travel as needed, especially during trial periods.
- Ability to handle confidential information and materials with care and discretion.
The estimated base salary for this position is between $120,000 to $140,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of job-related factors, including skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities, geographic location, and performance. This role is non-exempt meaning that it is overtime pay eligible.
