The Sr. HIM Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for the overall accuracy and quality of Protected Health Information within our Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. The role encompasses the maintenance of the Master Patient Index (MPI), integrity of all medical records within the EHR system, and assisting the manager in providing oversight to the data integrity team.
The Sr. HIM Data Integrity Specialist is someone with strong leadership and problem-solving skills, that is detail oriented, and a critical thinker.
Positions in this function create and deliver high quality system solutions for our applications, products and services across all technology functions. They consult with users and technology specialists to define business processes and the information systems for supporting those processes. Individuals in these roles may perform analysis and also serve as business liaisons to understand and refine business requirements. They provide technical support in developing systems that are cost effective and meet users’ requirements. This function works to create systems that work together in a cohesive manner, enforcing standards and methods consistently across the enterprise. Roles may support both current system improvements and maintenance along with new system development.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the HIM Manager and Director to execute patient account integrity deliverables in a timely and effective manner
- Use various tools to perform chart corrections, patient account merges and overlay resolution within the EHR system
- Perform regular maintenance on patients’ records to ensure compliance with various laws and government standards
- Perform identity management functions including, patient account validation, interface errors, overlay resolution etc.
- Analyze data for errors and works to resolve them, escalating appropriately when necessary
- Perform root causes analysis on data discrepancies, working with HIM management to rectify identified issues
- Perform other duties/special projects as assigned

Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
- 3+ years of experience with Health Information Systems/Electronic Health Record Systems
- 2+ years of HIM data/chart analysis or identity management experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a related field
- Certified Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician (i.e. RHIA or RHIT)
- Knowledgeable of HIPAA guidelines and applicable laws, and able to maintain strict patient confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and applicable laws
- Working knowledge of EPIC EHR
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem solving, written, and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks
- Detail oriented, critical thinker and quality focused
- Must be able to work independently and communicate with all levels of the organization
- Relevant management experience
New York Residents Only: The hourly range for New York residents is $23.22 to $45.43 per hour.
