Job Title: Senior Estimator - Roadway & Bridge/Structure
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in estimating large-scale roadway and bridge/structure projects for the Department of Transportation (DOT). The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in preparing accurate and competitive estimates for complex infrastructure projects, including roadways, bridges, and other transportation-related structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for large-scale roadway and bridge/structure projects for DOT contracts.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and scope of work to determine the cost of labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather information and refine project estimates.
- Develop pricing strategies for various elements of infrastructure projects, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
- Review bid documents and scope of work to ensure estimates align with client expectations and contract requirements.
- Lead the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring all cost components are accounted for and presented clearly.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, DOT regulations, and market pricing to ensure accurate estimates.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to junior estimators and other team members.
- Review and assess any change orders or contract modifications to adjust project costs as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating large-scale roadway and bridge/structure projects for DOT or similar public sector clients.
- In-depth knowledge of transportation infrastructure, including roadway construction, bridge work, and structural projects.
- Strong understanding of DOT specifications, guidelines, and bidding processes.
- Proven ability to prepare accurate and competitive estimates for complex infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant tools.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets and complex project scopes.
