The Test and Validation Senior Engineer will lead, plan, execute, and report EAVX testing both in-house and off-site for verification and validation of JBPCO Business Unit truck bodies and advanced technology. Work with both internal and external testing personnel to ensure testing goals are understood and met. Test a vast range of mechanical, electrical, and software subsystems, for which the Test Engineer will be responsible to learn and understand. Provide mechanical build support and debugging. The ideal candidate will have good communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong desire to continue learning.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead testing of technology/controls systems, mechanical, electrical, software, and thermal systems in vehicle solutions
- Tracing of vehicle and systems requirements to test cases
- Author detailed vehicle and systems test procedures
- Author detailed vehicle and systems test reports
- Execution of and/or oversite of vehicle and systems testing
- Collaborate on testing strategy
- Develop, maintain, and enhance, DFMEA, DVP&R, and other deliverables
- Support simulation activities (input, feedback, and reporting)
- Mechanical build support and debugging
- Work with and direct test and fabrication technicians in support of test fixture development and actual testing.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience making presentations and technical reports
- Demonstrated initiative, persuasion, and strong listening skills
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to travel to different JBPCO Business Units or 3 rd party test vendors (up to 50%)
Preferred Qualifications:
- 7-10+ years automotive experience in at least one of the following:
- Mechanical systems or component testing
- Electrical systems testing
- Thermal testing
- Vehicle feature and functional testing
- Controls testing
- Demonstrated experience with test and task management activities
- Practical experience with test management tools (e.g. Polarion, Jama, etc.)
- Practical experience with task management (e.g. Jira, Excel, MS Project, etc.)
- Ability to analyze MATLAB Simulink models
