Job DescriptionWork collaboratively with technology and business groups to conceive, design, engineer, and implement data, software, and technology solutions that solve significant scientific or business problems. Design and implement MPP database solutions that drive productivity and efficiency gains in own function and throughout multiple business areas. Contribute to advancement of AWS Redshift database software. Develop productive collaborations and communications with other groups across multiple disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Conceive, design, engineer, and implement data, software, or technology solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; routinely demonstrate initiative and creativity in developing technology solutions.
- Serve as technical expert or lead projects/programs and technical staff to develop, test, and implement significant new products, or operational improvements or devise new approaches to problems at the division/business unit.
- Analyzes and resolves technical problems using analytical problem-solving methods/techniques and associated tools/devices.
- Contribute to advancement of the company by studying state-of-the-art tools, techniques, and computing equipment; participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations.
- Demonstrate high proficiency across a wide range of technologies and platforms related to software design and development, programming languages, data integration, data warehousing, data analysis and visualization tools, data storage, network connectivity, and virtualization/cloud environments.
- Work in a highly autonomous and productive environment, requiring only minimal direction from or interaction with supervisor. Accountable for successful and timely completion of all tasks/projects under direct and matrix control.
- Initiate new areas of investigation that are meaningful, reliable, and can be incorporated directly into a scientific or business activity.
- Provides technical leadership and mentor less experienced staff in planning, methods, procedures, standards, and best practices. Demonstrate team player skills.
- Understand and adhere to corporate standards regarding applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, data security, and the software development lifecycle.

Required
- Bachelor’s Degree with 6+ years Master's Degree with 5 years’ experience; PhD with 2 years’ experience
- Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Platform Database Administration experience.
- Experience with Implementation, Installation, Database Administration, Performance Tuning, Troubleshooting, Backup & Recovery and Testing of Redshift.
- Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of MPP.
- Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
- Experience writing technical Documents and Instructions.
- Ability to work effectively with clients, ensuring satisfaction and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Data Security permissions, access controls, and encryption measures to protect sensitive data
- Experience with Redshift features such as Workload Manager, Columnar databases, ETL Tools, etc.
- Strong UNIX/Python coding/scripting skills
- Basic AWS architecture knowledge
- Experience migrating databases from old to new versions, On Prem to Cloud, Cloud to On Prem, and Cloud to Cloud
- Clear interpersonal communication, proofreading, editing, and formatting skills
- Knowledge of the systems development life cycle
- Excellent Written and oral communication, analytical and consultative skills with management, clients, and peers
- High-quality decision-making and analytical skills with less than perfect information
- Ability to periodically work nights or weekends (On-Call)
- Coordinate and transfer knowledge to MSP for operational work
