The Digital Platform Engineering team is focused on building world-class platforms in the cloud, with capabilities and processes that enable our engineers to focus on delivering innovative customer-facing features. Our digital platform serves a variety of internal and external developers and services by creating secured paved roads for our cloud assets, building fully automated CICD pipelines, and enabling fast experimentation for our data science services.
As a Senior Director of Architecture – Digital Platforms Engineering at ResMed, you will provide the global vision, rationale, and recommendations to leadership and teams for challenging technical issues related to building and improving the digital platform. Our digital platform includes Global Data and AI Platform, Developer Experience, Identity and Integrations Platforms. As the main architect of engineering for the DPE organization, you can understand the customer demand as well as the technology & business opportunities that exist in order to lead the organization forward. You understand key problems and propose and analyze multiple solutions to produce the most efficient, cost effective, resilient, and scalable architectural designs achievable.
On the technology stack, you will be overseeing platform development that spans the latest in cloud native tech. and rethink on how APIs, their design and runtime manifestations can be seamlessly blended with state-of-the-art observability all with a singular experience. How You Will Lead:
- System Integration Design: A detailed plan for integrating various systems, applications, and services, ensuring seamless connectivity between internal and external platforms.
- Scalable Architecture: A flexible and scalable architecture design that supports future growth, high availability, and performance optimization.
- Technology Stack Selection: Clear guidelines on the technology stack (tools, frameworks, cloud services) that align with business goals, ensuring the platform is optimized for speed, efficiency, and ease of use.
- Security and Compliance Framework: An architecture that integrates security best practices and ensures compliance with relevant regulations, providing data protection and risk mitigation.
- API Strategy and Microservices: A well-defined approach for implementing APIs and microservices to ensure modular, reusable components for rapid and flexible development.
- Automation and DevOps Pipeline: Frameworks for automating deployments, testing, and scaling infrastructure through a CI/CD pipeline to accelerate development cycles and improve efficiency.
- User Experience Guidelines: Standards for user-friendly interfaces, both for developers and end users, ensuring ease of use in managing and interacting with the digital capabilities.
- Comprehensive Architecture Blueprint: By delivering these components, the architect ensures the platform meets the goals of being fast, easy to use, and efficient for both internal and external users.
- Business Acumen: Understanding of the business goals and the ability to align technology solutions with strategic objectives.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills: Demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audience.

Let’s talk about Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or equivalent combined education and experience.
- 15+ years managing and operating SaaS applications in production environments, including various types of software architectures like microservices / RESTful APIs.
- Experience with APIs and 3rd-party API adoption.
- Strong technical abilities with experience in distributed systems design and scale.
- Work experience in two or more of: Unix/Linux, Distributed Systems, AWS/GCP, Kubernetes/Container platforms-based software development.
- Have extensive experience with metrics and logging libraries and aggregators, data analysis and visualization tools.
- Record of improving your team through your leadership and mentoring. Helping the team see their path for growth.

At ResMed, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current base range for this position is: $216,000 - $280,000 USD.
