Position Overview:
We are seeking a collaborative, driven Senior Credit Analyst, PCG with a passion for real estate finance and a natural curiosity for uncovering insights to join our growing Private Client Group (PCG). This individual will play a pivotal role in underwriting and analyzing complex portfolio real estate loans while serving & reporting into the Director of Credit, PCG. Success in this role requires a positive & detail-oriented mindset, advanced analytical skills, and the ability to navigate a collaborative, fast-paced environment within the mortgage or private lending industry.

Required Skills:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial/portfolio underwriting or credit analysis.
- Proven experience in a collaborative, matrix-style environment within the mortgage or private lending industry.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, including financial modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, strong organizational skills, and time management.
- High attention to detail and critical thinking skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential issues.
Preferred Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in finance, business or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in interpreting and recommending guidelines, demonstrating creativity and critical thinking in proposing alternative solutions and exception handling.
- Experience mentoring and developing Junior Credit Analysts or Underwriters through effective knowledge transfer.
- A proactive and adaptable approach to problem-solving with a positive, team-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct full underwriting for complex portfolio loans, including borrower and property analysis.
- Perform detailed credit evaluations by reviewing financial documents, analyzing borrower qualifications, and assessing property performance.
- Consider various properties owned by investor when appropriate, understand experience and performance of other investments
- Identify potential risks – associated with either borrower or property, the Sr Credit Analyst will determine if the risk is too high or if alternative financing/ rates and terms are more appropriate based on specific conditions of the loan.
- Perform property underwriting by evaluating acquisition costs, renovation plans, rental income projections, and market conditions.
- Create summary reports – summarize loan applications and credit analysis in one concise report which will include quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the loan – property, borrower, advantages, and potential risks to consider.
- Investigate variances on applicant’s financial statements if and when necessary
- Verify market comparables for property valuations and rental income.
- Review appraisals to ensure compliance with established standards and provide recommendations when necessary.
- Seek approval of final loan terms, ensuring proper internal communication and documentation of underwriting decisions are performed.
- Maintain productivity level and turn times as established by management. Prioritizes the underwriting caseload to meet various deadlines.
- Business relationship management skills and the ability to understand and anticipate the needs of respective business stakeholders.
- Mentor and support Junior Credit Analysts through training, knowledge sharing, and professional development initiatives.
