Job Duties and Responsibilities:The Senior Core Network Engineer for the Network Monitoring tool is part of the Dish Wireless Core Network Engineering organization and will be responsible for being at the forefront of the technology roadmap that is ahead of us as we build, optimize, and operate our network. One of the main responsibilities of this engineer will be to Design, Deploy, and manage the Network Monitoring tools that support various network protocols like SIP, Diameter, SS7. HTTP, HTTP2.0, GTPv2, SMPP. Senior Engineer responsible for leading network monitoring tools will and work with our vendors to manage design, deployment, operational issues, life cycle management including new feature validation as well as drive the product & solution architectural improvements to further simplify & optimize our network monitoring capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Oversee the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of DISH 5G Standalone Core Network probing tools, including 5G signaling, Packet Core, IMS, and messaging nodes.
- Collaborate with 5G Core Network vendors to align product roadmaps with DISH business needs for network probing solutions.
- Maintain and enhance the network deployment document repository, accommodating expansions due to capacity needs.
- Work with 5G Core Engineering, AWS, IP Engineering, and RAN teams to review deployment plans, upgrades, and manage lifecycle processes.
- Should have an understanding of TCP/IP, UDP and Generic Network Protocols.
- Troubleshoot network probing tool issues, analyze performance metrics, and engage with vendors and test teams to resolve complex problems.
- Deploy new probing tool releases in lab and production environments using CI/CD pipelines and continuously improve KPIs with performance engineering teams.
Education and Experience:
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a similar field
- Minimum 5+ years of prior experience on the vendor or operator side leading the design, deployment & evolution of core network probing solution related to 5G signaling, 5G Packet Core, IMS, and Messaging protocols including SIP (IMS), HTTP2, Diameter, HTTP, SMPP, SS7 etc.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of 5G Standalone Core Network architecture, call flows, and protocols (SIP, SMPP, SS7).
- Experience with network probing solutions from vendors like Gigamon, Radcom, and NetScout, and deployment on Kubernetes platforms.
- Proficient in using engineering documentation (CIQ, deployment templates, MoPs) for greenfield deployments and upgrades using CI/CD frameworks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills using call flows and packet captures, with the ability to propose technical solutions.
- Familiarity with public cloud platforms, Service-Based Architecture, IMS, and other related technologies.
- Effective communication, organizational skills, and a self-driven attitude; willing to work off hours for operational support and project advocacy.

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location. Candidates need to successfully complete a pre-employment screen, which may include a drug test and DMV check.
