Title: Senior Controls Engineer
Location: Northeastern Region (Hybrid)
Description:
The Senior Controls Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of industrial control systems, including PLCs, DCS, HMI, and SCADA platforms. This role requires collaborating with customers, managing projects, and providing innovative automation solutions. The position combines technical expertise, leadership, and project management to ensure systems are delivered efficiently and meet client requirements.
Responsibilities:
Develop control system architecture, including hardware selection, schematic diagrams, programming, and documentation.
Program industrial control systems using PLCs, DCS, RTUs, and visualization tools (HMI/SCADA).
Design, develop, and implement wired, wireless, and fiber network systems utilizing standard industrial protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
Manage and execute all phases of automation projects, including conceptualization, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
Oversee project plans, timelines, budgets, and financial reporting for projects up to $1M.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers and serve as a technical lead on project teams.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards for control systems.
Prepare and manage project documentation, including technical reports and system validation.
Support clients by delivering solutions in industries with process control, networking, and automation needs.
Required Skills:
Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Computer Science.
10+ years of experience implementing industrial control systems and automation solutions.
Proficiency with control platforms such as Rockwell, Siemens, and similar systems.
Expertise in HMI/SCADA platforms (e.g., FactoryTalk View, iFIX, Ignition).
Experience with DCS systems, including Emerson DeltaV or comparable technologies.
Knowledge of automation protocols (e.g., HART, Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/IP).
Understanding of IT/OT networking principles.
Experience with relational databases like SQL or Oracle.
Familiarity with industry standards, including cGMP, 21 CFR Part 11, and GAMP5.
Ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and technical deliverables.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Skills:
Experience working in the life sciences industry.
Familiarity with AutoCAD for control system design.
Strong knowledge of S88 Batch process standards.
Mentorship and team leadership experience.
Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
