Design, implement, and manage cloud-based database solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability.
Collaborate with software developers, system administrators, and other IT teams to define database requirements and architecture for various projects.
Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud databases, identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks and ensuring optimal query performance.
Plan and execute database migrations, upgrades, and patches while minimizing downtime and ensuring data integrity.
Implement and maintain database security best practices, including user access control, data encryption, and vulnerability assessments.
Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures.
Develop and maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Ensure data backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies are in place and regularly tested.
Stay up to date with emerging cloud and database technologies, evaluating their potential benefits and making recommendations for their adoption.
Provide technical support and guidance to development teams for database-related matters.
Skills/Requirements
Proven experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on cloud-based environments.
Strong expertise with AWS and proficiency in cloud database services.
Solid knowledge of relational database management systems (e.g., Oracle, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Document DB).
Experience with database design, performance tuning, and query optimization.
Familiarity with database security best practices and data privacy regulations.
Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Terraform, Chef) for automation and monitoring.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Relevant certifications in cloud technologies and database management (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty) is a plus.
Qualifications:
RDBMS/OS: Oracle; MS SQL Server; Document DB; Postgres, MySQL, Windows, Linux
Applications/Services Tools: Experience with the following will be considered a plus:
AWS Data Migration Service, AWS Relational Database, Oracle OEM, SQL Management Studio, Chef, Datadog
Must possess (5+) years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience, with RDS being a requirement. Must possess AWS Cloud Certification or equivalent hands-on experience in managing and monitoring production workloads in AWS.
