Position Summary
As the Senior Business Development Manager for the Life Sciences & Healthcare Industry Group, you will be instrumental in driving revenue opportunities and enhancing the firm's market presence. You will work closely with the Global Industry Group Leaders and the broader industry group to develop and execute go-to-market strategies that align with our Life Sciences & Healthcare industry group business objectives.
Duties and Accountabilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to partners and senior stakeholders on marketing and business development strategies
- Partner with senior leaders to develop go-to-market plans aligned with Global Life Sciences & Healthcare business objectives
- Drive firm-wide revenue opportunities with existing and potential clients
- Lead select Industry Group Priority Client(s), including setting relationship goals, supporting business development, and managing client activities like training, events, and secondments
- Shape the Life Sciences sector narrative internally and externally, maintaining key data points and metrics with the communications team
- Work with Marketing Communications teams to deliver thought leadership that strengthens the firm's reputation and fosters client engagement
- Where required, coordinate industry group efforts such as practice group collaboration on pitches, submissions, and targeted client outreach programs
- Support special projects, initiatives, and ad hoc requests
- Provide sector credentials for pitches, proposals, and RFPs when required
- Partner with the DEI team to engage clients on collaborative initiatives
- Identify strategic sponsorships and coordinate Firm participation in conferences, speaker opportunities, and events with the Events team
Qualifications
- At least ten (10) years of experience in marketing and business development in a professional services environment, with some experience of the Life Sciences & Healthcare sector
- Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant subject area
- Proven problem-solver with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proactive, resilient, highly organized, and effective with peers and professionals at all levels
- Adaptable to shifting priorities and meeting time-sensitive deadlines
- Experienced in business development, preferably in law firms or international organizations
- Detail-oriented with strong big-picture vision
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Self-motivated, pragmatic, flexible; effective independently and in teams
- Willing to take on additional tasks as needed
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with iManage/document management systems is ideal
- Strong oral and written communicator with a diplomatic approach
- Impactful, assertive, and energetic with a positive outlook
- Effective team player with team/project management experience
- Skilled networker and advocate; builds strong internal and external relationships
Location and Reporting
- This is a hybrid role based in our New York office.
- This role reports to the Director, Global Clients & Industries, based in London.
