Job Title: Senior Business Analyst
Work Location: Hartford, CT (Hybrid – Onsite)
Job Description:
- The BA is accountable to support the APO and team in the documentation and facilitation of the team and stakeholders' understanding of complex product environments.
- Works with the team to develop solutions, support testing, find ways to make processes better, and teach others how to use new tools or systems.
- Note: BA needs vary by team environment/complexity, and this is not meant to imply every team has/should have a BA role. If there is no BA role on a team, the product owner is accountable to work with the team on ensuring these accountabilities/expectations are met.
- Partner with the Product Owner and Team to turn the big picture vision into actionable work the team can deliver. BAs support gathering and analyzing product details, dependencies, and risks in a complex environment. This involves conducting interviews, workshops, and document analysis to understand the current state, desired outcomes, and constraints.
- Creating clarity and solutions to meet the needs of stakeholders and customers through organizing, synthesizing, and sharing information. BAs gather and analyze product requirements from stakeholders.
- Advocating for business value and helping to identify and document the best solution options by asking questions: “why do we want to do this?”; “what value is it bringing?”; “how is it better than what we have now”?; and “who is it benefiting?”. BAs ensure functional specifications, user stories, and use cases are documented in a clear and concise manner. They ensure there is a detailed understanding of the scope and deliverables.
- Actively contribute as a team member during feature and user story refinement. During refinement and planning they raise and capture clarifications, surface potential dependencies, risks, and assumptions and contribute to committed outcomes. BAs collaborate with architects, engineers, and experience design to design solutions that meet customer needs and product requirements. They participate in solution brainstorming sessions, review technical designs, and provide input on feasibility and usability.
- Training and Testing Support: BAs may provide testing, training, and support to end-users during implementation. BAs assist in creating test cases, conducting user acceptance testing (UAT), and validating the deliverables meet the specified requirements. They work closely with QA teams to identify defects and ensure quality assurance. They create user guides, conduct training sessions, and address user inquiries to ensure smooth adoption of new systems or processes.
- Process Improvement: BAs identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization within PI. They analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and recommend solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
