About the Job
Our non-profit client company is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented senior accountant to join their organization. In this position, you will handle all accounting operations within the company, verify financial records and transactions, and monitor the accounting records. You must have a keen attention to detail and maintain account balances, financial statements, general ledger, and all reports. You must be able to multi task and have advanced technical skills.
Responsibilities and Duties
• Prepare consolidated financial statements and analysis
• Assist in writing and maintain financial statement reports
• Intercompany transactions and reconciliations
• Analyze financial reports and information
• Analyze allocations, program costs, and prepare adjustments
• Variance analysis budget to actual
• Prepare and post monthly journal and allocation entries
• Maintain accounting records
• Maintain company accounting procedures and processes
• Comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
• Record financial information for analysis
• Assist the Controller and CFO in preparing documents and interpreting financial information
• Advise on procedure and financial management
• Develop procedures to improve efficiency
• Participate in the preparation of the annual budget and assist in tracking expenditures in order to operate within approved budget guidelines
• Support with award budget creation and monitor revisions and amendments
• Assist with audits and taxes
• Sales Tax filings
• Prepare financial reports and State regulatory reports
• Maintain account balances and bank statements
• Manage general ledger and assist month-end/year-end close processes
• Ensure compliance with all internal processes and policies and procedures
• Support Controller and CFO with special projects and workflow process improvements
Requirements and Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Master’s degree or CPA a plus.
• Non Profit Accounting experience a plus
• Grant reporting experience a plus
• 5+ years previous experience as an accountant
• Excellent computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite knowledge; Advanced Excel skills
• Proficiency with accounting software and experience with a software system implementation a plus
• Initiative to work hard and improve processes
• Experience with report writer software and database a plus
• Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, report writing and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Able to analyze financial records and interpret for other departments
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
