Senior Accountant

We are currently looking to add a skilled Senior Accountant to join our growing electrical service contracting firm with $10 million in annual revenue. This role is responsible for managing core financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting business growth through financial analysis and process improvement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction or service-based accounting and be comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The position will report to the Controller.
Pay Scale: $70-80K/yr

Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred
- Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion (PoC) and WIP reporting
- Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (experience with systems like Sage 300, Viewpoint, or QuickBooks preferred).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Essential Job Functions:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and adjustments.
- Oversee accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll functions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax reporting requirements.
- Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts.
- Provide variance analysis and interpret financial data to guide decision-making.
- Support cash flow management, including forecasting and monitoring liquidity.
- Maintain accurate job costing records and ensure project profitability reporting.
- Work with project managers to monitor job performance, including change orders and cost controls.
- Prepare work-in-progress (WIP) reports and analyze project margins
- Support annual audits and coordinate with external auditors
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accounting staff.
