About the Role
As Soter’s first Senior Accountant you will play a pivotal role in establishing and managing Soter’s financial operations across multiple jurisdictions. You will report to and work closely with the Head of Finance to design the organization’s accounting processes, manage the financial compliance requirements, and support financial reporting.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to shape the accounting function in a dynamic and fast-paced startup environment.
This is a hybrid role with preference given to candidates currently located in, or willing to relocate to, Dubai. Candidates based in Bermuda, New York, and London are also welcome to apply. The compensation package for this role will include a competitive base salary, equity, and more. The final package will be determined based on location, experience, and demonstrated skills.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
Consolidate financial statements and ensure intercompany transactions are accurately recorded.
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
Support the Head of Finance in budget preparation and cash flow management
Technical Accounting Oversight
Oversee the application of and compliance of accounting policies, ensuring adherence to IFRS or other relevant accounting standards.
Provide guidance into technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition, cost allocation, and consolidation
Compliance & Audit
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting requirements, tax filings, and local regulations in all jurisdictions of operation
Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities to ensure accurate filings and audit readiness
Develop internal controls and processes to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
Transfer Pricing
Collaborate with external advisors to establish and maintain transfer pricing policies.
Ensure intercompany transactions comply with transfer pricing regulations.
Provide support for transfer pricing documentation and audits.
Accounting Operations
Oversee and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Collaborate across teams by providing internal accounting support for new initiatives, key projects, and ad-hoc requests.
Financial Systems & Processes
Maintain and upgrade accounting systems (e.g., Xero) to improve efficiency and scalability.
Establish and maintain effective financial controls and processes that ensure accuracy, transparency, and comply with best practices and regulatory requirements.
In partnership with the Head of People, design and implement thorough payroll processes and controls to ensure efficient global payroll operations.
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CPA) with 5+ years of experience, ideally in start-ups, fintech, and/or insurance.
Demonstrated experience in financial statement preparation, multi-entity accounting and consolidations. Experience with globally distributed entities is a plus.
Strong understanding of statutory compliance, tax filings, and audit preparation.
Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in reporting.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with our global teams.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly and efficiently resolve challenges

Interest in and excitement for digital asset / crypto space
Familiarity with scaling accounting operations in startups
Experience with Xero, Trello, Slack, and google workspace
