Our client is currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join us at our Midtown Manhattan office with immediate availability. This position reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and involves diverse responsibilities such as state and federal grant reporting and invoicing, payroll allocation, support in accounts payable, and monitoring grants and donations, among other duties

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accountant to join our mission driven non-profit. This role is an integral part of our financial operations and will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting functions. The successful candidate will have a strong background in nonprofit accounting, experience with HHS accelerator and Passport, and a deep understanding of grants. This position that requires a commitment to excellence, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various departments within the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with program staff to track and invoice monthly contract deliverables on all contracts and grants.
2. Ensure monthly contract billing complies with contract stipulations.
3. Perform general QuickBooks office accounting, including bank deposits and payments to vendors.
4. Assist with month-end close procedures and the annual audit process.
5. Maintain financial records and reports, perform account reconciliations, assist with budget and close processes, conduct internal audits, and assist with preparing financial statements.
6. Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulations.
7. Work closely with internal teams to improve financial procedures.
Qualifications:
1. Business or Accounting degree and/or equivalent experience required.
2. Minimum of three years of experience in accounting, specifically in nonprofit accounting.
3. Experience with HHS accelerator and Passport.
4. Experience working with grants and understanding their financial implications.
5. Experience working with nonprofits and/or religious institutions is preferred.
6. Proficiency in QuickBooks and other accounting software.
7. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
9. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with team members at all levels of the organization.
10. Staff who work in our office or directly with clients must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
11. All applicants will be given a federal background check and narcotics drug test prior to employment.
12. Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
13. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
