Senior Accountant – Medical Field
Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and managing financial data, including the analysis and preparation of financial statements with supporting schedules. The role provides critical financial insights and reports for use by the CFO and VP of Finance. This position involves overseeing key accounting functions, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting physician compensation and contract administration. Salary Base: $90K-$100K
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare interim and annual financial statements for review by the CFO and VP of Finance, including recording journal entries for multi-entity allocations, intercompany transactions, and monthly/year-end adjustments and analysis.
- Create P&L and Balance Sheet supporting schedules and reports for external auditors, and address special requests from upper management.
- Supervise the General Accounting department, provide staff training, and offer cross-coverage in the absence of employees.
- Allocate corporate costs to affiliated physician entities on a monthly basis and manage reconciliation between affiliated entities.
- Administer physician compensation for over 200 physicians (employed and 1099) and implement compensation models, ensuring compliance with regulatory and fair market standards under the direction of the CFO and VP of Finance.
- Coordinate with external auditors for tasks such as Workers' Compensation reviews and provide necessary data to outside accountants for corporate tax returns.
- Prepare federal and state tax returns on a quarterly and annual basis for multiple entities, including MHN, Venture, VWE, JRx, FRR, MSC, and MTS.
- Complete financial questionnaires, statistical reports, and forms for governmental agencies, financial institutions, and other organizations.
- Interface with physicians to address financial queries and prepare financial data specific to guaranteed and cardiology doctors.
- Develop and prepare budgets for MHN, Venture, VWE, JRx, FRR, MSC, and MTS for review by the CFO and VP of Finance.
- Approve payment requests and manage special projects as assigned.
- Handle confidential financial data and ensure compliance with the organization's financial procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in hospital or healthcare accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint).
- Strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills.
