We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Accountant to join our growing team for one of the largest and most successful specialty building materials distributors. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of our financial data and ensuring our financial operations run smoothly. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem solver with a keen attention to detail and a strong understanding of accounting principles. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary and benefits package.
Responsibilities:
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
1. Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of all transactions.
2. Maintain and reconcile the general ledger on a regular basis.
3. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets.
4. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
5. Analyze financial data and prepare financial reports for management.
6. Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
7. Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting procedures and improve operational efficiency.
8. Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary information and preparing requested documentations.
9. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement new systems to enhance financial reporting and control.
10. Provide support to junior staff and assist in their professional development.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
2. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred but not a requirement, just helps.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a distribution company, similar in nature, but not required.
4. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
5. Strong understanding of GAAP and other accounting principles.
6. Experience with journal entries, income statements, general ledger, balance sheets, month-end and year-end processes.
7. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
10. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
