Position Responsibilities
Our Accounting and Finance team is at the forefront of shaping strategic decisions across the company. As a member of the team, the Senior Accountant contributes to the company's success by ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial statements. A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills, problem-solving skills, thorough knowledge of accounting principles, strong communication skills, and attention to detail.
This role is located at our Corporate Office in Des Plaines, IL, and requires that candidates adhere to a hybrid work arrangement (4 days on-site and 1 day remote). Candidates must live within a commutable distance of the corporate office. This is not a remote position
Salary Range - $86,010-$105,000
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Record monthly journal entries and review P&L for completeness. Work with business unit partners in multiple locations in the reporting and analysis of financial statement results including explaining monthly variances by business unit.
- Lead the month-end closing process to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Calculate and post monthly depreciation, internal rent, and pooled cost allocations entries.
- Prepare supporting tax schedules for income and property tax returns.
- Reconcile and ensure that M1 fixed assets are billed in a timely fashion by working collaboratively with other teams.
- Complete monthly and quarterly reporting to headquarters.
- Assist with monthly intercompany elimination entries and intercompany reconciliations.
- Review and reconcile construction in process activity.
- Work with the tax department and outside firms on property tax returns and payments.
- Initiate all building and car lease payments.
- Post all leasing entries, maintain lease schedules, and roll forwards.
- Responsible for deferred revenue and expense accounting for startups.
- Audit accounts payable batches to ensure the accuracy of coding, authorization, and amount.
- Complete monthly balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations and ensure reconciling items are resolved promptly.
- Support and participate in interim and annual audits by updating pre-existing schedules, completing analysis for ad-hoc requests, and responding to requests from auditors.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
Job Qualifications- Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- CPA certification is highly preferred.
- Public accounting experience is a plus.
- Five plus years of progressive experience.
- Intermediate to advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel including Vlookups and Pivot tables.
- ERP experience is required and SAP experience is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process.
