Key Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:
- Review and approve journal entries for accuracy in the general ledger.
- Prepare journal adjustments and support the month-end close process.
- Analyze general ledger data to prepare consolidated financial statements.
- Review monthly account reconciliations for Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts.
- Analyze plant expenses, identifying and explaining variances compared to budget and prior year results.
- Research and interpret data to address accounting and financial inquiries.
- Support external audits by preparing work papers and gathering required documentation.
- Oversee general accounting functions, including capital expenditures, payroll reconciliations, and job cost entries.
- Maintain tax filing schedules and ensure timely payments.
- Identify and implement ERP system enhancements.
- Stay updated on GAAP and other accounting practices.
Preferred Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally in manufacturing or construction.
- Public accounting experience preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Word, PowerPoint, Tableau, or Vista is a plus.
- Strong understanding of SFAS/GAAP rules and reporting standards.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and efficiency.
