About the Role
United Trades of America is looking for a Commercial Construction Estimator to join our expanding team in North Shore, Louisiana. This role is essential to delivering accurate and reliable cost assessments for complex construction projects. As an Estimator, you will analyze construction plans, coordinate with vendors and subcontractors, and develop budgets for projects valued between $1M and $8M. Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct precise quantity takeoffs from architectural and engineering plans to generate detailed cost estimates.
- Create and refine project budgets for design-build contracts, even when project design input is minimal.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to solicit competitive quotes and pricing.
- Prepare formal bid proposals, ensuring alignment with project specifications, and review them with senior leadership prior to submission.
- Integrate estimates and budgets into Procore or other project management platforms to facilitate forecasting and project tracking.
- Convert manual or conceptual cost estimates into comprehensive digital formats for consistency and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Professional Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Commercial Construction Estimator with proven success managing project estimates independently.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in construction estimating software (Procore experience is highly preferred).
- Advanced ability to analyze construction drawings and perform detailed quantity takeoffs.
- Capacity to develop cost projections and budgets for projects ranging from conceptual designs to finalized plans.
- Soft Skills:
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to ensure estimate accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal and written communication skills for collaboration with internal teams and external vendors.
- High attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced setting.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred but not required for candidates with significant relevant experience.
