Job Summary
Responsible to CareWell Health Medical Center for supporting the corporate mission, vision, and values. Responsible to: Manager/Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management and/or Assistant Vice-President of Operations. Manage the day-to-day operations of the Security Department. Supervises staff involved in establishing, promoting, and maintaining hospital security and property protection.
Essential Functions
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the Security Shift Supervisors and all Security Staff.
- Collaborates with Security Vendors and monitors Security Programs.
- Assists in analyzing safety and risk issues and develops plans of corrections.
- Assists in completing safety reports on a quarterly basis.
- Assigns tasks and projects to staff in conjunction with the Manager/Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management.
- Serves as member of the Environment of Care (EOC) Committee as directed.
- Ensures that the Shift Supervisors schedule and assign Security Officers to cover all shifts.
- Completes time and attendance.
- Covers as Security Officer/ Supervisor when required to fill vacant posts.
- Oversees incident reporting logs.
- Oversees Fire Drill Log.
- Conducts weekly audits of Patient Valuables.
- Completes monthly Security Report.
- Coordinates/prepares on-the-job training for Security Officers.
- Develops training initiatives related to life safety in conjunction with the Manager/Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management.
- Educates Security Officers on any new policies, procedures, equipment, and techniques.
- Participates in the Environment of Care Committee along with the Manager/Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management as directed.
- Serves as a member of the Safety and Workplace Violence Committees as directed.
- Attends regulatory training as required.
- Reviews all vacation request approvals and denials.
- Provides Executive Management with analysis reports on security services and activities as directed.
- Generates monthly/quarterly/annual security services reports.
- Review videotapes and conduct investigations.
- Assist in the development of initiatives to enhance the safety and security of the hospital and its campuses.
- Assist in coordinating events/training/documentation in preparation for regulatory accreditations and visits.
- Manages the maintenance and insurance of the hospital fleet vehicles.
- Substitutes as the Manager/Director of Safety, Security and Emergency Management in their absence for required committees, meetings, and events.
- Participates in daily management meetings/huddles with other hospital department heads as directed.
- Serves as the primary point-of-contact for security related equipment and vendors.
- Works with the Director of Patient Relations and Labor Management to ensure proper coverage between Security and the Concierges throughout the hospital and its campuses as required.
- Work with the Director of Patient Relations and Labor Management to ensure proper management of position control and department productivity as required.

Minimum Education/Certifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent. Valid NJ Driver License. New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act (S.O.R.A.) certified.
Minimum Work Experience
Three to five years of experience in the law enforcement and/or security industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
Supervisory Position. Typically, Monday through Friday. Ability to work all shifts (8am-4pm/4pm-12am/12am-8am). Required to work a minimum of 37.5 hours per week. Overtime may be required as needed. Maybe required to work holidays, weekends and overnight depending on the operational needs of the hospital.
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
Requires full range of body motion including handling, lifting, and restraining patients. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50lbs. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and flexible hours. Working outside in inclement weather. Occasionally working nearing moving mechanical parts ; in high precarious places; with explosives; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electric shock, risk of radiation and vibration. The employee will occasionally work with or around mentally challenged patients/visitors. Emergency situations can arise without notification or cause. Involves some discretion, independent action and judgment to decide what to do.
