Fairview is looking for a Security Officer to join our security team at our University of MN Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Job Summary:
Ensures a safe & secure environment for all M Health Fairview employees, patients, guests, stakeholders, and communities through proactive leadership, agility, and a holistic organizational approach. Provides for the safety and security of patients, visitors, staff and property by responding to needs of hospital patients, visitors and staff, helping and providing excellent customer service standards. Proactively works to prevent theft and vandalism. May be involved in high-risk situations with exposure to potentially dangerous situations which requires range of safety precautions.
Schedule:
0.8 FTE (64 hours per pay period)
night shift
every other weekend
Week 1: Monday, Tuesday 11p-730a, Saturday, Sunday 7p-730a
Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 11p-730a

The security Officer provides for the safety and security of patients, visitors and staff and property by responding to needs of hospital patients, visitors and staff, offering assistance and providing excellent customer service standards. Proactively works to prevent theft and vandalism. May be involved in high risk situations with exposure to potentially dangerous situations which requires range of safety precautions.
As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for:
- Patrolling designated areas and maintaining a safe environment
- Detailing daily activities in our report writing system.
- Responding to calls such as crisis calls, and calls working with unpredictable populations requiring teamwork and clear communication.
- Utilizing skills such as: de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, and risk analysis.
- Nurtures a culture of improvement, efficiency and innovative thinking.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
Required
Experience
- Two years security or customer service or military experience, or
- Associates degree and one year of security or customer service experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field
License/Certification/Registration
- Valid Class D Driver’s License and DMV record which meets Fairview Insurability requirements for assignments that require the operation of a motor vehicle.
Preferred
- Hospital Security Experience
License/Certification/Registration
- Certified Peace Officer (POST)
- Emergency Med Tech Basic (EMT-B)

Compensation
$23.15 -$32.69 / Hourly
