About the Job
HOLT Crane and Equipment are seeking a Sales Representative for our Houston, TX location. The Sales Representative is responsible for representing machine sales of products in a defined geographic territory with the ultimate goal of sale, lease purchase, or rental of these products. This position will target sales prospecting and sales to new customers and existing customers in the general construction and lifting markets.
Essential Functions:
- Demonstrates operation of Holt Crane and Equipment products efficiently.
- Operates DOT Qualified Company Vehicles over 10,000 pounds within a four-state region (Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Louisiana).
- Sources and grows sales with new business opportunities and develops new customers to obtain territorial and organizational business goals.
- Maintains existing customer relationships and promotes a mutually beneficial relationship.
- Promotes products and services to existing customer base.
- Obtains, diagnoses, and responds to specific customer needs.
- Contributes to the development, monitoring and control of the sales forecast and expenses within the assigned territory to meet or exceed the business goals.
- Creates and submits accurate and timely sales-related reports and documentation.
- Meets all sales-related key metrics within the review period.
- Completes special projects as requested by the Sales Manager to align with the changing needs of the company.
- Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Work Hours:
- 50+ hours a week, including late evenings, weekends, and holidays
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to operate and demonstrate efficient specific products sold by Holt Crane and Equipment.
- Ability to identify, initiate contact, and influence potential buyers in a manner that is consistent with our mission statement and core values.
- Demonstrate knowledge of selling techniques (prospecting, overcoming objections, closing sales).
- Excellent selling, negotiating, and closing skills with ability to build long term business relationships.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with multiple departments and various levels of the organization.
- Ability to operate, demonstrate and train on specific equipment, involving the need to get up on equipment, rig equipment, climb up on equipment and trucks.
- Ability to drive a vehicle over 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight (DOT Qualified).
- Proficient with MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
- Use of logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and thorough completion of work tasks.
- First-class organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills, deadline oriented.
- Ability to perform mathematical computations such as percentages, fractions, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division quickly and accurately.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.

Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent with some college coursework or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Minimum three years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required. Six years or more preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- DOT Qualified / or ability to become DOT Qualified.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- None
Travel:
- Travels to and from customer locations
- Extensive driving required; overnight travel required
Physical Requirements:
- This position requires frequent standing and walking, and occasional kneeling, extended periods in a stationary position, crouching, stooping, balancing, and reaching associated with the movement.
- Constant movement and use of limbs; this position requires good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
- This role frequently communicates with others, must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
- Routinely reacts to visual, auditory, and other signals, including alarms and instructions, and is required to visually inspect work

Work Environment:
- This job is generally performed in the field, working on and around equipment as well as driving a company vehicle and operating equipment on a job site. Additionally, work is performed in an environmental controlled professional office, operating computers, use of file cabinets etc.
