Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Safety Manager to join our Major Projects Division in Nevada. The Safety Manager, reporting to the area Safety Director, will be responsible for leading a team of Safety Specialist’s and the implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with company, client, local, state, federal rules and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT). The Safety Manager will serve as a company safety representative and is responsible for reinforcing a strong safety culture within the organization to ensure the safety and health of all employees.
Salary range: $118-145k per year
Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities
- Build and lead a high-performing Safety team that provides comprehensive support to Project Operational Groups across all safety aspects.
- Develop and implement growth plans for Specialists, ensuring routine performance evaluations are conducted.
- Ensure adherence to internal safety policies as well as federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including OSHA standards.
- Oversee the administration of safety policies and procedures, assess performance outcomes, and guide the development of new or revised strategic plans and policies.
- Manage claims effectively.
- Enforce organizational safety programs designed to prevent workplace injuries, fires, and accidents.
- Direct the identification and mitigation of safety hazards and oversee the creation and delivery of training programs that educate employees on safe work practices, equipment operation, and emergency procedures, as well as accident investigations.
- Collaborate with the Project Safety Director and senior leadership to align departmental strategies with the organization's overall objectives (T-Line, Substation, or Telecom).
- Maintain consistent communication with the Project Safety Director and Operations management to address their needs effectively.
- Establish and communicate guidelines for collecting and maintaining employee training records, health and safety manuals, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.
- Conduct audits to identify weaknesses or risks, proactively developing and implementing corrective actions while ensuring thorough investigation and response to accidents or injuries.
- Serve as a liaison with Operations and Legal during accident investigations.
- Coordinate support during serious accident investigations.
- Perform essential functions at designated company offices or field locations.
- Uphold the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy, along with industry-specific professional and ethical standards.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in occupational safety and health operations within the construction industry, including management roles.
- Safety certification preferred, such as Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Safety Management Specialist (SMS), Specialist in Safety and Health (SSH), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
- Bachelor’s degree in safety management, Construction Management, or a related field; relevant education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical construction.
- Experience in developing and mentoring staff, including supervising a team of project Safety Professionals.
- Strong understanding of occupational safety and health principles and concepts.
- Excellent analytical and observational skills.
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and occupational health standards.
- Exceptional leadership and communication abilities.
- Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Capable of working effectively under high-pressure conditions and in emergency situations.
- Advanced knowledge of accident investigation procedures following root cause analysis principals and provide input on recommended corrective actions.
- Proven record of driving strategic direction.
- Strong decision-making and planning skills.
- Ability to cultivate collaborative relationships and influence others.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Willingness to travel for job site visits for extended periods.
