Responsibilities:
- The Safety Electronics Validation Engineer will execute component and subsystem software testing for the vehicle Body features, electrical and software architectures. The candidate will work closely with the Software Team, Electrical Team, and Vehicle Integration Team to validate the Body systems software on different test properties. The validation engineer will generate test cases and analyze results to ensure program requirements are met.
- Develop software validation test cases for the Safety electronics system (ACU, FCM, Client) and LV components.
- Work closely with Software, Electrical, and Vehicle Integration teams on the integration of multiple control units on the test properties.
- Collaborate with Software, Electrical, and Safety teams to develop DFMEAs, DVP&Rs, and test properties validation plans
- Write detailed test specifications and test scripts based on system and component requirements. Generate a testing plan that achieves targets at various milestones
- Analyze and visualize large data sets from various data sources to understand the use cases and validation criteria
- Post-processing and analysis of experimental data to validate and inform models
- Technical communication of analysis results and tradeoffs
- Root cause analysis, corrective action implementation, and escalation of risks to keep software development process on track
- Identify opportunities for automation. Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency
- Participate in Agile Software development processes
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Computer Software, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program is preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in using systems modeling platforms for test development, test automation, test requirements development, execution and reporting
- Minimum two (2) years' experience working with low voltage and high voltage systems
- Excellent communication, team building, and relationship building skills.
- Open and closed-loop control systems for sensors, actuators, vehicle controllers , etc.
- Low voltage components such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
- Passive restraint systems; air bags, retractors, and seatbelts
- Forward collision warning systems
- Pedestrian alert systems.
- Body electrical components such as Body Control module, Lighting systems, entry controls, wipe/wash systems, ignition systems, and display systems
- Electric vehicle system, requirements, testing, and validation Software/System
- CAN-Bus, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocol
- CAN tools such as CANalyzer, P-CAN, Kvaser, CANoe, CANApe, etc.
- MATLAB, Simulink, and State flowcharts
- Knowledge in scripting languages (such as Python, CAPL)
- Knowledge with a requirements management tool, such as Polarion or DOORS
- 8D, five whys, and other structured problem solving tools to diagnose complex issues
- Industry standards such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, SAE, etc.
