Job Overview
The compliance manager is committed to ensuring school compliance with special education regulations and requirements and works closely with the special education team to support student growth.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure student support services staff abide by IDEA and local regulations
- Oversee compliance of student support services files
- Own scheduling and holding IEP, AED, Eligibility, and 504 meetings in a timely manner
- Maintain the special education database system (SEDS) and support transition to Special Programs
- Support case managers with necessary paperwork and collecting data for LRE and dedicated aides requests
- Process and monitor evaluation referrals, working closely with school psychologists and other related service providers to ensure assessments are completed in a timely manner
- Coordinate the implementation of accommodations on state and local testing in collaboration with school teams
- Maintain a count of all eligible Special Education students and determine probable projections for budget and planning purposes upon request
- Monitor and review compliance with draft requirements (all drafts, documents, and evaluations sent 5 business days in advance, etc.)
- Ensure IEPs are compliant with federal and district regulations, goals are standards based and relevant for the individual student, and present levels of performance are appropriate and current.
- Facilitate data-based discussions to help the MDT design IEPs to best support student growth
- Distribute weekly memos to school teams and facilitate department meetings, when needed
- Facilitate small group and whole staff professional development on an as needed basis
- Attend professional development workshops, conferences, and meetings to stay abreast of current topics in special education
- Monitor completion of monthly service trackers for related service providers
- Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- 3 years of relevant special education experience and a masters in related field (preferred)
- Experience teaching in an urban school (preferred)
- Certified in Special Education (recommended)
- Excellent oral and written communicator (required)
- Analytic, problem-solving mindset (required)
- Bilingual - Spanish/English (preferred)

Schedule: 12-month full-time position
