Overview
This position supports the school health program’s goals and objectives by delivering vision and hearing, and other health screenings in schools and community sites.
Responsibilities
- Schedules assigned schools by required deadlines to accomplish screenings in compliance with program demands and state mandates, under guidance of Assistant Director of Nursing and Operations Leader.
- Performs vision and hearing tests per protocol in designated schools using the approved vision and audiometric equipment.
- Maintains confidentiality of all records.
- Completes designated paperwork and enters screening information into computer following screening.
- Submits referral letter to School Health Personnel for distribution to parents of students with screening failures. Provides test results to Data Processor in school for recording on school data system.
- Assists School Health Personnel with follow-up for screening failures by letters, phone calls and/or direct contact with students and documents electronically all case management.
- Performs other health screenings in school and community sites as directed using approved equipment.
- Ensures safe keeping of and performs routine cleaning and maintenance of testing equipment.
- Assists School Health Personnel with related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
- Travel to alternate school locations during scheduled work hours as needed.
- Emergency duties may be required that include working in the community to provide services in cooperation with other agencies such as the Red Cross or to perform other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to threats or disasters, man-made or natural.
Qualifications
Education:
High school diploma or GED required.
Experience:
One (1) to two (2) years experience in a health related field, working in a vision care setting or in providing health support services is required.
Licensure:
Valid Florida Driver's License required.
Training:
Initial training provided as needed. Annual competencies and training on updates as needed ' provided by District or contracted personnel.
