Summary of Responsibilities:
As a Construction Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our construction projects. This includes managing budgets, timelines, and ensuring customer satisfaction while adhering to building codes and industry standards. You will supervise Lead Carpenters to maintain compliance and uphold quality standards, manage daily project schedules, and coordinate the procurement of materials and tools. Your role will also involve handling client communications, delivering weekly updates, overseeing the Pre-Construction phase, and ensuring thorough and professional completion of all inspections.
Additionally, you will conduct regular jobsite visits to monitor quality and safety standards, foster positive relationships with inspectors, conduct post-construction analyses, and contribute to staff training initiatives. Throughout these responsibilities, you will enforce stringent on-site safety measures to uphold industry best practices.
Essential Functions:
- Manage production team's daily activities to meet goals, standards, milestones, deadlines, and budgets.
- Create, Manage & Approve all Change Orders.
- Approve hiring, dismissal, rewards, bonuses, and disciplinary actions for Production Department staff (with Production Manager's pre-approval).
- Make purchasing decisions within the department budget; submit requests for Production Manager's approval.
- Suggest vehicles, hardware, software, tools, equipment, and systems within the approved Production Department budget to the Production Manager.
Routine Functions:
- Provide estimating and feasibility assistance to the design department, while also helping the design team with system improvements.
- Plan work; suggest efficiency and growth strategies.
- Perform Carpenter duties at expert level.
- Manage construction projects: budgets, timelines, profitability, quality control & customer satisfaction.
- Manage daily work of staff: ensure adherence to values, responsibilities, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee Lead Carpenters and managing trade partners: ensure compliance with agreements, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure project schedules are updated daily in project management software.
- Review and approve Scopes of Work, Budgets, Change Orders, and project plans.
- Ensure team manages materials, tools, and equipment for jobs.
- Provide weekly project updates to the Production Manager.
- Manage Pre-Construction phase: review documentation, develop project plan, prepare for client meeting.
- Schedule jobsite visits to ensure quality and safety standards.
- Comply with building codes and regulations and improve relationships with local building inspectors.
- Review post-construction analysis with Production Manager and Field Team.
- Establish and enforce safety measures on-site.
- Assist in training of Carpenters and Apprentices.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
- 2-5 years of experience as a Construction Project Manager or similar experience.
- 5 or more years of residential construction experience as a carpenter.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in the use of Google Suite tools and technologies.
- Valid California State driver’s license and personal vehicle insurance.
- Able to lift 25 pounds without assistance, and to climb a 6-foot ladder without assistance.
- Pass background check without incident and pass drug testing.
