Job Summary:
The RD is a twelve-month, live-in professional who plays a critical role in the holistic development of students. The RD is a member of the Campus Housing and Residence Life team who reports directly to the Associate Director of Residence Life and Housing. In addition to collaborating with other members of the SWBTS staff, faculty, and students, the Resident Director works with the Resident Assistants to provide a challenging and supportive environment where students can live and learn. The RD must be committed to providing students with the tools they need to experience personal and spiritual growth. Further, they must strategically and intentionally build a vibrant community within the Residence Halls, General Housing, and around campus.
Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

Supervise, disciple, and minister to students in the Residence Halls and General Housing units.

Maintain a visible presence in the residence hall through participation in event functions, organizing and attending residence hall meetings, and fellowshipping with residence hall residents.

Provide leadership to students in a manner which promotes character development and spiritual growth.

Enforce student conduct policies in a manner that fosters personal growth and protects the integrity of the community.

Supervise and mentor Resident Assistants in the residence hall.

Conduct weekly operation meeting with RAs.
-
Perform other related duties as assigned and specific to area of responsibility.

Hold office hours during regular business hours with non-office hours spent engaging with residents and RAs.

Plan, organize, and lead RA training sessions for the fall and spring semesters.

Assist with the spring to summer housing transition period.

Work holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, New Years, and July 4th on a rotation basis between each resident director.

Coordinate pre-opening activities such as room/unit checks, key inventory and residence hall inventory check. Coordinate with the Office of Student Financial Services, Registrar, and dining services to verify housing lists and charges.

Supervise building maintenance and usage. Process IT and requests with Information Technology and Media Services. Follow-up with Facilities Maintenance on maintenance requests to confirm repair as needed. Record and charge for all housing damages.

Report term occupancy; maintain the Campus Housing and Residence Life housing database; coordinate semester close and final paperwork.

Maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with other Resident Directors and Housing Staff.
Support the Office of Campus Housing and Residence Life staff and other SWBTS student services office in its overall concept of student life and holistic student development.

Qualifications / Education:

A Master's degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Personnel, Student Development, or related field is preferred.

A minimum of a bachelor’s degree and/or three years of supervisory/management experience or a combination of education and experience is required.

Experience in higher education and student life, facilities management, campus housing, and student advising.

Demonstrated knowledge in leadership development, group dynamics, and student programming in a residence hall setting.

Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.
Supervision:
-
Supervise residents and families of on-campus students.

Report directly to the Associate Director of Campus Housing and Residence Life
Decision-Making Responsibilities:
