About the Job
What You Will Do

The work is primarily hands-on magnet fabrication: operating coil winding machines, applying protective coatings, assembling reinforcing structures, and installing completed magnets. LANL pulsed magnets are at the forefront of scientific research and push the envelope in terms of technical performance, making the work both exciting and demanding in terms of superb quality fabrication. The assembly of magnets is very detail oriented, and processes must be meticulously followed. Each fabrication step is documented to allow review of dimensions, procedures, and performance. The new technician will also assist in autopsies of magnets driven to catastrophic failure.
