The Research Administrative Assistant will work with the UUP Research Department, helping to meet the immediate and long-term research needs of multiple departments (including Legislation and Political Affairs, and Communications), as well as UUP’s President and other officers.
Job Description:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Research, the Research Administrative Assistant will be responsible for maintaining the UUP Research Department filing system, calendar, scheduling, communications and meeting coordination. The position is office-based. The 20 hours/week will be worked Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm.
Primary Responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities:
- Data entry: Carefully, precisely, entering data into an excel spreadsheet, detecting and noting discrepancies from patterns.
- Tracking member requests and UUP Research workstreams/projects.
- Managing large volumes of research or publications (electronic and hard copy filing/storage).
- Overseeing administrative logistics as point person for occasional projects and surveys.
- Support tracking of SUNY Board of Trustees (meeting schedules and agendas).
- Support tracking of legislative bills.
- Support tracking of SUNY news and updates.
- Help manage Research Department intern job applications and applicants.
- Simple formatting and proofing support for Word, Excel, etc.
- Support logistics for UUP Delegate Assemblies and other events.
- Follow detailed guidance on short notice to support the Research Department’s efforts to respond to urgent, unexpected requests.
- Fast and accurate typing skills.
- Excellent knowledge of word processing tools, spreadsheets (MS Excel/Google Sheets), and MS OneDrive.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to empathize and work with a variety of people.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Excellent organizational and time management capabilities.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to new tasks or systems.
- Ability and willingness to learn new technological systems.
