About the Job
Seeking a motivated Sonographer for a variable full-time role at the Orlando Regional Medical Center main campus in the heart of downtown Orlando.
We are an IAC accredited laboratory. We perform upper and lower peripheral arterial and venous duplex studies, ultrasound guided procedures, ABI testing, Carotid, Transcranial, and hemodialysis duplex evaluations on a wide patient demographic in varying settings.
Qualifications:
Education/Training
Graduate of an accredited school of sonography. Depending on assigned department, meets education/training as required under established current American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) guidelines.
Licensure/Certification
• Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
• Must maintain one of the following:
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in fetal echocardiography; or
• Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) or Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI); or
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); or
• Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) through Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI)
Experience
A minimum of one year of experience.
- Applicants must possess a strong work ethic, excellent multi-tasking skills, adaptability, and be able to work independently as well as in a team setting. Compassionate patient care, professionalism and strong technical and communication skills must be displayed daily.
- RVT or RVS credentials, as well as BLS are required to join the team. Experienced sonographers are preferred, but we are willing to train new graduates.
- Familiarity with Philips PACS and ultrasound imaging equipment is a plus.
- Variable full-time. 4x 10-hour shifts, weekday nights. No weekends.
Responsibilities:Essential Functions
• Demonstrates competency in routine noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular ultrasound diagnostics, and equipment operation and maintenance.
• Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines.
• Solves complex problems.
• Exercise judgement based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
• Recognizes normal and abnormal anatomy and physiology in conjunction with obtaining and documenting pertinent clinical and diagnostic information.
• Works closely with the cardiologist to perform noninvasive and/or invasive cardiology and/or vascular diagnostic sonographic exams, and functions independently in the absence of the supervisor and/or manager.
• Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
• Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures.
• Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality.
• Adheres to Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards.
• Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs.
• Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
• Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient’s clinical history, and assures that the information is accuratelydocumented.
• Position patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve high quality images for interpretation.
• Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
• Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
• Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation.
• Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
• Utilizes all Orlando Health computer systems effectively and accurately.
• Ensures safety of all customers.
• Maintains accurate and precise documentation. Accurately record verbal and telephone orders from physicians in the patient record.
• Communicates openly and effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
• Participates in supervising student sonographers, training, and orienting new sonographers, directing daily workflow, participates in quality and safety initiatives, and acting as a department super user.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Other Related Functions
• Assist in transporting of patients.
• Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation.
