MacCormick Secure Center is located in the Shindagin Hollow State Forest, 15 miles east of the City of Ithaca. The Youth served at MacCormick are male juvenile offenders. Depending upon the sentence, youth may remain in OCFS custody until the age of 21. MacCormick is accredited by the American Correctional Association and has a current population of approximately 33 youth. This facility is accredited by the American Correctional Association. Free parking is available on-site. The dress code is business casual or scrubs. Currently, there are no vaccine requirements. Supervision staff will be present when the employee is providing nursing care to youth.
Job Duties:
Job duties include, but may not be limited to: maintaining general medical inventory (including controlled substances); conducting medication administration; reviewing the overall health conditions of youth (i.e. preparing, reviewing and evaluating nursing intervention plans); ensuring that interventions are consistent with comprehensive treatment plans; participating in staff trainings; preparing required clinical and administrative reports; maintain infection control standards; and, serve as a member of the facility's medical treatment team. Additional duties to be discussed in detail during the interview.
Hours: 12p to 10:30p with alternating weekends. Include extra 30 minutes to compensate for 30-minute unpaid meal break.
- All prospective employees will be investigated through a Criminal Background Check (CBC), which includes State and federal Criminal History Record Checks. Prospective employees will be fingerprinted in order to obtain a record of their criminal history information.
- All prospective employees will be screened against the Statewide Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment (SCR).
- Prospective appointees will be checked against the Staff Exclusion List (SEL) maintained by the Justice Center for the Protection of People with Special Needs.
All background requirement fees will be paid by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (NYS OCFS), therefore there will be no background check reimbursement for this position. Once NYS OCFS is made aware of the awarded vendors selected candidate, the vendor will be provided the necessary forms for the SCR and SEL checks. Once the SEL and SCR forms are received and processed by NYS OCFS, the vendor's selected candidate will be contacted directly by NYS OCFS to schedule fingerprinting. After all results have been reviewed, the vendor will be provided with a start date for the selected candidate.
Requirements:
- Licensed and registered to practice nursing in New York State.
- A minimum of six months of recent medical experience
- Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to push, pull, reach, and bend frequently
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
