Job Description Summary
Responsible for reviewing and assessing consults for possible admission to MUSC Health Inpatient Rehabilitation and obtain insurance prior authorization. Responsible for inputting preadmission assessment in rehab data and completing the preadmission screen prior to admission. Responsible for presenting admissions to the Inpatient Rehabilitation provider. Provides support to management, clinical and support staff in coordinating a marketing and referral development plan to meet the growth goals of the organization. Develops plans to educate referral sources regarding inpatient rehabilitation services and to facilitate smooth referral processes. Develops and implements strategic plans in coordination with leadership and the direction of the department and the organization. Cultivates relationships across the region that directly translate to referral sources and admissions.Entity

Job Description
Work Environment:
Works in office settings, hospital settings, travels regularly with a varying work schedule. Must feel comfortable with in person, virtual, phone, text and other forms of face-to-face, electronic and print communication. Must have a valid driver’s license and possess the ability to travel.

Essential Functions:
Assist in the development of a referral development plan that promotes the departments’ services in the market area and increases the departments’ volumes. Establishes relationships with referrals through regular contact. Facilitates in-services/presentations to new and existing referral sources. Establishes effective physician relationships to obtain referrals as well as educates physicians on inpatient rehab services. Maintains detailed call logs, referral development activity logs, and appropriate follow up logs. Prepares required reports and paperwork appropriately and on time. Interacts with team members to ensure a positive customer service experience. Meets with families and patients to collect data, answer questions and facilitate admissions. Works with insurance companies to obtain pre-authorization for patients. Interacts with diverse healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive market coverage. Collects and distributes data to physicians and facilities after the patient is discharged to show their progress to help build future referrals. Works with community outreach and marketing on community events and presentations. Conducts clinical screens/preadmission screens and preadmission assessments prior to admission to acute inpatient rehabilitation and may be included in various clinical support roles as needed in support of the Program manager and admissions coordination.

regulations; write reports, correspondence and/or manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, patients, families, other employees, and medical staff; possess the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving concrete variables and standardized situations.
Age Competencies:
This position primarily interacts with adult age groups. All staff members must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skill necessary to meet the physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related needs of the persons in the assigned work area.
Additional Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with two (2) years' experience in post-acute referral development and business development and or two (2) years of clinical experience. Experience in acute and post-acute care and diverse healthcare settings preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must have strong project management, organizational, attention to detail, analytical, verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision.
