Labor One Staffing is seeking a Recruiter/Project Coordinator that has experience with Shipyard Crafts and Trades.
Location: Brownsville, Texas
Objective:
Support the Client by Recruiting, Interviewing, and Onboarding candidates as required by the client.
Will also provide HR and safety support as directed by the Client and Corporate Office.
Reporting: This position will report directly to the Operations Manager.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES/MAJOR DUTIES
Communications / Deliverables:
- Response: Will respond to all requests in a consistent and timely manner.
- Reporting: Will provide direct support to the Operations Manager in the execution of required/requested reports. Will provide the Operations Manager with a daily by uploading it on Google Docs or emailing the day’s activities and any concerns that may have developed.
- Client Engagement: Will participate in site production and safety meetings as requested/required.
- Working Relationships: Will develop, maintain and foster a positive working relationship with the leased labor workforce, the Client and the Corporate office management, team.
Daily Topics: Would include but not be limited to the following:
- Terminations or resignations to include exit interview information.
- Review of all injuries or Serious Potential Incidents.
- Status of open positions.
- Employee discipline issues.
- Client requests or concerns.
- Will participate as directed in a weekly HR, Safety and Risk alignment call to provide an update on on-site activities/projects and to receive information on regional updates on initiatives/projects.
Transport of personnel to and from a place of lodging to the worksite. (If and when required)
Staff: Will participate and/or lead a daily staff meeting as directed by the Operations Manager to review the day’s deliverables and goals to be achieved.
Topics: Openings, interview schedule, injuries, pending disciplinary actions, labor review, etc.
Employee engagement:
- Employee interface: Will have the responsibility for leased labor workforce engagements to answer any questions that they may have and to provide them additional information such as safety, benefits or other related topics.
- Log: Responsible for ensuring that the engagement log is maintained and all follow-up items tracked until completion.
Reporting:
- Recruiting / Site Report (Weekly): Responsible for ensuring that the “Recruiting report” is prepared and submitted to the client and Corporate Office by the date and time required.
- Responsibility:
- Responsible for ensuring that this report is developed and provided to the Operations
- Manager by the date and time required for review prior to submission. Responsible for ensuring that employee reports is distributed to the Operations Manager as directed.
Format: This report would include the following:
- Employee headcount (Filled positions, Open Positions, Total).
- Turnover (Employee name, DOH, Termination date, Reason).
- Daily recruiting via company Recruiting Software.
- Scheduled for orientation, Positions filled.
In addition, to the report above this will be an addendum to the “Recruiting Report” that will be submitted to the Operations Manager weekly. Assistance with additional reports may be required as business conditions dictate.
Employee setup/usage: Ensure that new employees are processed appropriately and that they receive either a timecard or clock ID (IVR) and are trained on how to clock in and out based upon the system utilized.
Client Assistance: Provide assistance to the client as directed.
Employee Discipline:
- Responsible for developing all disciplinary reports and ensuring that Incident
- Reports are developed per the applicable policy and delivered in a timely manner.
Disciplinary log: responsible for ensuring that the disciplinary log is maintained and all actions are noted within 24 hours of delivery to the employee.
Policies and procedures:
- Responsibility: Responsible for ensuring that all client site requirements are implemented and enforced.
- Communications: Responsible for ensuring that all policies, procedures, and benefits are communicated and/or made accessible to the employees.
- Investigations: Will be the primary investigator for work-related injuries and will conduct other investigations at the site as directed.
- Personnel records: Responsible for ensuring that all personnel records are maintained per the current.
Labor One Staffing policy and that these files are always secured.
File Review: Will pull and perform weekly reviews of new hire files to ensure that all requirements are being achieved.
Screenings: Will be required to ensure that all applicable employee screenings are completed.
- New Employees (Conditional offer).
- I-9 / E-verify.
- Criminal and Drug Screening through Labor One Staffing approved vendor.
- Reference check.
- Drug Screens.
- Other testing/screening as required.
- Existing Employees.
- Administration of the drug testing random testing program.
- Other testing/screening as required.
Unemployment: Will assist in responding to unemployment inquiries as directed.
Exit Interviews: Responsible for conducting exit interviews on all employees that voluntarily leave their employment with Labor One Staffing. These results are to be summarized on the appropriate log and reported weekly to the Operations Manager.
Benefits:
- Responsibility: Responsible for ensuring that all benefits programs are communicated to the staff members and providing direct assistance in answering questions or concerns.
- Health Insurance: Responsible for assisting with the annual enrollment process at the site including distribution of enrollment materials, conducting employee informational sessions, updating the client, etc.
Pre and Post Employment Processes:
Responsibility:
Responsible for directing the onboarding program to include the pre and post-application / orientation process.

Onboarding: Will direct and manage the on-boarding process to ensure a consistent process is being maintained and that it is a positive experience for the new employee. This would include but not be limited to the following:
- Scheduling pre or post application processes
- Managing and directing the remote hiring / post-employment and training process
- An organized approach to the completion of all required paperwork.
- A clear overview of the relationship between Labor One Staffing and The Client and the opportunities that could exist for future growth.
- Education on key Labor One Staffing and Client’s HR and Safety related policies.
- Consistent orientation process
- Other activities
Applicant Flow: Responsible for ensuring the Applicant Flow Logs are maintained and that the application/posting processes are being followed in accordance with policy.
Employee Engagement:
- Responsibility: Will assist in the employee engagement process as directed.
- Training: May assist with training as directed.
- Monitoring: Will maintain all records/logs pertaining to employee engagement activities
Safety and Risk:
- Responsibility: Will implement the Labor One Staffing and Client’s Safety and Risk program at the site.
- Safety Walkthroughs: Walkthroughs with Client to collaborate and clarify expectations with respect to workplace safety, provide/receive feedback, and make improvements.
- Frequency: Weekly or as required, in conjunction with the Client.
- Procedure: We will follow the procedures as provided by Labor One Safety
- Training: Will coordinate with the Client to implement a safety training program at the site (Orientation, On-going, Post-injury, etc.)
- Online / Remote Training: Will implement and direct the remote safety training program as needed.
- Injury Investigations: Responsible for conducting and/ or directing all injuries or SPI (Serious Potential Incidents) to be properly investigated and reported as required.
- On the Job Accidents: Will serve as the primary contact for any Labor One Staffing employee suffering from a work-related injury. Will have the responsibility to transport the injured employees to the Labor One.
Staffing approved medical facilities for care to the injured employee. Will need to fill out the appropriate post-injury reports.
Performs other duties which are deemed by management to be an integral part of the job, including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and practicing and complying with all Company operating rules, policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the field and prior management experience is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of MS Office Applications.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual, English/Spanish is a huge plus.
- Able to work well in a customer-focused team environment in a professional manner.
- Valid Driver’s License.
